All AllerAir Air Filtration Systems are equipped with separate true HEPA and activated carbon filter cartridges. We custom make your Air Purifer with the the type of carbon and HEPA that will best suit your needs. Here is an example. If you are a smoker you will use a different type of carbon in your air purifier than a beauty salon. You can also take the HEPA cartridge off the Air purifier and use only the activated carbon/zeolite filter cartridge when cleaning an area with a high concentrations of odors or chemicals. This will prevent your true HEPA filter from being contaminated and prolongs its life. If you have just painted your house or had a fire you may use a specially enhanced impregnated carbon for removing particular chemicals and odors such as smoke from a fire or cigarettes, formaldehyde, paint, ammonia, or volatile organic compounds.

One of the main benefits of having two separate filters is the cost factor! True Hepa filters last almost five times as long as an activated carbon filter. Saving you in replacement filter costs! The activated granular carbon filter in our Air purifier units can be changed every 12 to 36 months (depending on the chemical or odor levels).

The HEPA filter can be changed every 3 to 5 years (depending on concentrations of dust and smoke). However, if the Air purifier is used for special cleaning purposes in areas with elevated levels of dust and chemical, it may need to be changed more often. The activated carbon filter must be changed when odors start to come out of the Air purifier (1 to 3 years under normal
residential conditions). True HEPA filter should be replaced only when the clean air output is severely reduced (5 years under normal residential conditions).
